Contemporary Media & Game Lounge

This media wall sits by a grouping of contemporary upholstered swivel chairs covered in two distinctly different fabrics.  The light rail above holds halogen spots to gently illuminate the room, along with handblown blue and orange glass pendants that take advantage of the rooms great height. Glossy white lacquered cabinets float on the wall painted with graphic blue shapes. The richly polished concrete floor sets off the seating group and its custom white area carpet. The  refined simplicity of  this design is a result of carefully...

Upholstered Doors

We recently created these double sided upholstered doors for the entry into a client’s media room.  We drew the plans for  this Indianapolis home with unfinished space in mind for  this area , and the media room was finished after our clients lived here for a while. The doors are executed with precision detailing using pewter nailheads and tacks to make the pattern on the leather panels. Soft padding underneath gives a slightly rounded effect to the panels.  The upholstery provides an added sound barrier for high action...

Dining Room

Artwork by Fernand Léger. Chandelier from Radio City Music Hall made of spun aluminum. This Indianapolis  dining room engages with art and antiques that mix with custom contemporary objects. The antique German shrunk is veneered with exotic wood. Its scale and dramatic proportions anchor the space . The light fixture, from Radio City Music Hall, is spun aluminium and glass, and washes the room with a soft glow. A custom table sits on a Tibetan carpet and is surrounded by Biedermier style chairs upholstered in leather in colors from the...

Decorators’ Show House

Misch Bobrick was pleased to have participated in the 2012  St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Decorators’ Show House & Gardens. For our inspiration, we imagined clients that appreciate clean lines, local artists and a bit of glamor.  The room represents how a room can evolve over time.  We mixed antiques with  new furniture.  Note how wonderfully the modern loveseat from Hancock and Moore in the Louis XVI Style with a  lacquered frame raised on paneled legs compliments the antique Chippendale side chairs. Highlights of our...

Custom Walk In Shower

Walls and floors sheathed in soft blue glass mosaic tiles transform this modern bath into a watery wonderland. The bidet and water closet share a secluded alcove. Windows placed high on the wall allow privacy and natural light without shades. So many of our clients appreciate the utility of a  bidet that we end up incorporating them in many new bathrooms. Yesterdays European luxury has become todays fixture of choice. The master bathroom of twenty years ago, dominated by a seldom used whirlpool tub, has evolved to include a walk in shower in...

Luxurious Master Suite

Luxurious Master Suite

This luxurious downtown Indianapolis master bedroom suite is the perfect escape from a hectic lifestyle.  We upholstered the walls in the same fabric as the headboard and bedding material to create a soothing monochromatic scheme.  The drapery panels, also in the same cashmere fabric, soften light and noise from outside. The effect is luxurious and calming. I personally hate the daily task of “making up the bed”, so I try to create bedrooms that require a minimum of fussing, even if they are traditionally styled. This one, in a...

Accessory Detail

It’s important to have a focal point in a room, one main feature that dominates your eye and draws your attention. That might be a fireplace in a living room, an intricate headboard in a bedroom or an island in a kitchen. A focal point is something that gives the room meaning and purpose and gives the eye a landing place. But equally important are the smaller details and accent pieces. These accessories serve to tie the room together, but also can offer real insight into what matters to you, the homeowner. On a purely aesthetic level,...

Dine and Live Well

Dine and Live Well

Why did King Arthur and his legendary knights choose to sit at a round table instead of a more traditional rectangular table? Think back to your own childhood family dinners at a rectangular table. Chances are your father sat at the head of the table, literally and figuratively leading the family and dominating the conversation. Even unconsciously, we yield power to the person sitting at the head of the table. However, when you choose a round table, that hierarchy breaks down. Everyone is seated closer together, and because there’s no...

Spectacular and Functional Too

A custom stainless steel island top in this contemporary Indianapolis kitchen incorporates a state of the art cooktop and ventilation system. The kitchen is  a place to use all we know about good interior design, to make it function well, to make it beautiful, to make it your own. To please this homeowner, minimalism was  key.
