The kitchen is the heart and soul of this home. We created this expansive space out of a small, cramped, chopped up area. After moving some walls to provide a better space plan, we designed the cabinets and had them custom fabricated by Zinn Custom Cabinetry. The lacquered finish and the warm wood stain compliment the architectural finishes we created in the rest of the space. The flooring and counter tops are also new, but have the sense of age and permanence that is the mark of good traditional design. We designed the crown moldings and base moldings so that the cabinets wood look more like furniture. To the right, graceful antique chairs surround a glass topped table in the sun-flooded breakfast room. Lacquered shutters compliment the lacquer finish of the cabinets.
