Meridian Street Mansion

Traditional does not mean boring or fussy. This original fireplace was cleaned and polished to bring back the luster of the 1920’s.   The seating group in front of the fireplace is accented with a Dakota Jackson table. It has a silky finish of gold leaf and macassar ebony . The styistic flourishes of the contemporary echo the pared down simplicity of the important Biedermeier chairs and tables. We finished all the upholstery with black or white fabrics, which allow the forms and wood finishes of the chairs and sofas to be the stars.    This landmark Indianapolis estate was furnished with museum quality antiques and artwork accented with the finest modern furniture. The walls are glazed with several colors of the softest grey and tan.  Some silver and copper flakes were mixed with the final layer of the wall glazing to provide some shimmer. Good interior design looks inevitable, as if it has always been, and fresh and luxurious at the same time. It is a real priveledge to work on these great Meridian Street homes, they have genuine character and charm.
