At MischBobrickDesign LLC , our design team understands how important the right background is for a rooms furnishings and decoration. Architectural details such as moldings and trims elevate the ordinary. When faced with shafts of plain drywall in a downtown high rise penthouse we were renovating, we sketched some ideas to discuss with our clients. The sketch shown on the left uses classic proportions to add scale and drama, and it was the one we decided to implement. The photo on the right shows a finished section. We used a technique of painting the moldings the same color as the wall, just using a slightly different finish to add a shine to details. Not using the expected white on the trims keeps the room looking a bit more modern.
