This custom contemporary kitchen island is a place to gather and separates the work area from the breakfast area in the foreground. It massive size allows for buffets, bar service and a dramatic large floral display. Because this is a part of a sweeping, loft like space, we wanted this room to be clean and streamlined and not too obviously a kitchen. It is in view of the dining space as well as a media area and living room. The pared down minimalism is balanced with opulent materials, polished woods, granite, and pewter metallic paint.
The custom ceiling treatment has concealed lighting and a painted metallic finish. The Blue Pearl granite shines like an opal, with flecks of mica glittereing in the light.
